On the recommendation of the Hemant Saran government of Jharkhand, Governor Draupadi Murmu appointed Sona Jhariya Minz, a female tribal professor, as the Vice-Chancellor of Sido Kanho University in Jharkhand. Sona Jharia Minaj is currently working as a Professor at the School of Computer & Systems Science, Jaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Sona Jharia Minaz has been teaching at Jaharlal Nehru University since 1992 He has previously taught at Madurai Kamaraj University (Tamil Nadu) and Barkatatullah University (Madhya Pradesh). While teaching at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Sona Jharia Minaz was elected President of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers' Association (JNUTA).
Sona Jhariya Minz has done P.hd and M.phil in Computer Science from Jaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Sona Jharia Minaj holds an MSc in Mathematics from Madras Christian College
Indigenous people all over the country, including Jharkhand, are very happy to have Sona Jharia Minaj as the Vice Chancellor of Sido Kanho Murmu University in the state of Jharkhand as a female Indigenous Professor.
